In short
- What it is: the 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit (three-hole flange with Venturi profile + closing cap) with a cylindrical dry polyester sport air filter, for Ducati SuperSport 939 and 939 S (2017–2020), all versions.
- What it fixes: jerkiness below 4,000 rpm and the mid-range torque dip (4,300–5,100 rpm).
- Dyno-tested result: about +5–8 Nm from low revs up to 5,500 rpm and up to +5 HP in the mid-range, with the stock ECU and no remap.
- Plug & Play and reversible: fits the stock airbox with no cutting or drilling.

Low-rev jerkiness and mid-range dip on the SuperSport 939: where they come from
In traffic, pulling away and out of hairpins, the stock 937 cc Testastretta 11° of the SuperSport 939 tends to jerk below 4,000 rpm and has an abrupt throttle pick-up (on-off effect), not ideal for a sportbike that is also built for touring. On the dyno, the stock curve shows a torque dip between 4,300 and 5,100 rpm, exactly where you cruise on country roads and on the motorway.
One of the main causes is the intake: on the stock airbox, air enters through a narrow, very restrictive inlet, designed mainly to meet homologation noise limits.
Why changing just the air filter is not enough
Many Ducati riders start by fitting a sport air filter for the SuperSport 939. The problem is that the air still has to pass through the stock inlet: if the inlet is narrow, a more permeable filter makes little difference. It's like having a marathon runner's lungs and breathing through a straw.

The solution: 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit
The kit replaces the stock airbox inlet with an enlarged three-hole intake flange, blended with a Venturi profile that guides the air into the engine without turbulence. The cylindrical filter mounts on the flange, closed at the bottom by a cap and secured with a long bolt. The box also includes the 2G Engineering high-flow dry polyester air filter: a complete intake system, designed to work with the stock ECU. Every kit is designed and made in Soliera (Modena), in the heart of the Motor Valley, from carbon-fiber-reinforced PPA, and comes with all the hardware you need.
What changes on the road
- Strong low end and mid-range: the torque dip between 4,300 and 5,100 rpm disappears and throttle response becomes progressive and predictable, with no on-off.
- More torque and power without a remap: about +5–8 Nm from low revs up to 5,500 rpm and up to +5 HP in the mid-range, measured on the dyno with the stock ECU. Peak power rises only slightly (about +1 HP). No remap needed.
- Intake sound: deeper and fuller, typical of the Testastretta.
- Minimal maintenance: the filter is dry and needs no oil: just clean it with a blast of compressed air.

On the dyno, a stock SuperSport 939 was compared with the same bike fitted with the 2G kit, with no remap: torque is higher from low revs up to 5,500 rpm and the dip in the middle of the curve is filled in, while peak power changes only slightly.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to remap the ECU?
No. The kit is designed to work with the stock ECU of the SuperSport 939: the stated results (about +5–8 Nm from low revs up to 5,500 rpm and up to +5 HP in the mid-range) were measured with no remap.
Is a sport air filter enough to get rid of the mid-range dip?
Usually not. The bottleneck is the stock intake inlet, narrow and very restrictive: a more permeable filter behind the same inlet makes little difference. The kit replaces the inlet with an enlarged flange with a Venturi profile.
Is it better to change the exhaust or the intake?
They do different jobs: the intake works on how much air gets into the engine, the exhaust on how the gases get out. Our kit is designed to deliver results with the stock exhaust and costs a fraction of a full exhaust system.
Does it fit every version of the SuperSport 939?
Yes: SuperSport 939 and 939 S, from 2017 to 2020.
Does it also fit the SuperSport 950?
Yes, the SuperSport 950 has the same engine and airbox as the 939. For convenience there is also a dedicated page for the SuperSport 950 kit.
Can I put the bike back to stock?
Yes. Installation requires no cutting or drilling: just refit the stock parts.
How long does it take to fit?
About one hour, with no modifications to the bike.
How do I clean the filter?
The filter is dry polyester and must not be oiled: clean it with a blast of compressed air against the direction of the intake flow.
How long does shipping take?
All kits are in stock and ship within 24 hours, worldwide. You have 15 days from delivery to return the product if you're not happy with it.
