In short
- What it is: the 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit with Sprint Filter P08 air filters: two airbox lids that replace the two stock filter covers on the BMW R 1300 GS, R 1300 GS Adventure and R 1300 RT (2024+).
- What it fixes: the small air inlets of the stock covers, which limit how much air reaches the filters.
- Dyno result: more torque and power in the midrange, up to about +6 hp around 5,800 rpm, with the stock ECU.
- Plug & Play and reversible: fits the stock airbox with no cutting or drilling and no remap.
⚠️ FOR RACE USE ONLY
This product is intended exclusively for competition use on closed circuits. It is not approved for road use: use on public roads is not permitted.
Why the stock intake of the R 1300 GS is restricted
The R 1300 GS boxer breathes through two air filters, one on each side, closed by two plastic covers. The air inlets of the stock covers are small, designed mainly to meet European homologation noise limits: that is where the intake bottleneck is.
Why changing the air filters alone is not enough
As a first upgrade, many riders fit performance air filters for the R 1300 GS. The problem is that the filters still sit behind the same stock air inlets: if the air cannot get into the airbox, a freer-flowing filter makes little difference. It's like having a marathon runner's lungs and breathing through a straw.

The solution: 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit for the R 1300 GS
The kit consists of two enlarged airbox lids, right and left, that replace the two stock filter covers. The large openings increase the air inlet area towards the filters. The box also includes the pair of Sprint Filter P08 polyester filters (code SM260S): a complete intake system, designed to work with the stock ECU. Every lid is designed and made in Soliera (Modena), in the heart of the Motor Valley, from carbon-fibre-filled PPA.
What changes on the road
- More midrange pull: the curve climbs better between 3,500 and 6,000 rpm, the range you use most on the road and off-road.
- More torque and power without a remap: up to about +6 hp and +9 Nm with the stock ECU. No remap needed.
- Intake sound: deeper and fuller.
- Minimal maintenance: the Sprint Filter P08 filters need no oil: just clean them with a blast of compressed air.
Which version to choose
| Version | What's included | Who it's for |

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to remap the ECU?
No. The kit works with the stock ECU of the R 1300 GS: no remap is needed.
Is fitting performance air filters enough to get more air?
Usually not. The bottleneck is the air inlets of the stock covers: a freer-flowing filter behind the same inlet makes little difference. The kit enlarges the air inlet and already includes performance filters.
What is the difference from the kit without filters?
The lids are the same. This version also includes the pair of Sprint Filter P08 filters; the kit without filters is designed for riders who already run racing filters.
Do I need to modify anything on the bike?
No. The two lids replace the stock ones on the standard airbox, with no cutting or drilling.
Can I put the bike back to stock?
Yes. Just refit the stock covers.
Is it better to change the exhaust or the intake?
They are different upgrades: the intake controls how much air gets into the engine, the exhaust how the gases get out. The kit is designed to deliver results with the stock exhaust and costs a fraction of a full exhaust system.
How do I clean the filters?
The Sprint Filter P08 filters are polyester and must not be oiled: clean them with a blast of compressed air, against the intake flow.
How long does shipping take?
All kits are in stock and ship within 24 hours, worldwide. You have 15 days from delivery to return the product if you're not happy with it.
