In short
- What it is: the 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit, without filters: two airbox lids that replace the two stock filter covers on the BMW R 1300 GS, R 1300 GS Adventure and R 1300 RT (2024+), to use with the racing filters you already run.
- What it fixes: the small air inlets of the stock covers, which limit how much air reaches the filters.
- Dyno result: more torque and power in the midrange, up to about +6 hp around 5,800 rpm, with the stock ECU.
- Plug & Play and reversible: fits the stock airbox with no cutting or drilling and no remap.
⚠️ FOR RACE USE ONLY
This product is intended exclusively for competition use on closed circuits. It is not approved for road use: use on public roads is not permitted.
Why the stock intake of the R 1300 GS is restricted
The R 1300 GS boxer breathes through two air filters, one on each side, closed by two plastic covers. The air inlets of the stock covers are small, designed mainly to meet European homologation noise limits: that is where the intake bottleneck is.
Why changing the air filters alone is not enough
As a first upgrade, many riders fit performance air filters for the R 1300 GS. The problem is that the filters still sit behind the same stock air inlets: if the air cannot get into the airbox, a freer-flowing filter makes little difference. It's like having a marathon runner's lungs and breathing through a straw.

The solution: 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit for the R 1300 GS
The kit consists of two enlarged airbox lids, right and left, that replace the two stock filter covers. The large openings increase the air inlet area towards the filters. Filters are not included: the kit is designed for riders who already run racing filters. Every lid is designed and made in Soliera (Modena), in the heart of the Motor Valley, from carbon-fibre-filled PPA.
What changes on the road
- More midrange pull: the curve climbs better between 3,500 and 6,000 rpm, the range you use most on the road and off-road.
- More torque and power without a remap: up to about +6 hp and +9 Nm with the stock ECU. No remap needed.
- Intake sound: deeper and fuller.
- Minimal maintenance: the lids are maintenance-free; for the filters, follow their manufacturer's instructions.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to remap the ECU?
No. The kit works with the stock ECU of the R 1300 GS: no remap is needed.
Are the filters included?
No. This version contains only the two lids, for riders who already run racing filters. If you also want the filters, choose the kit with Sprint Filter filters.
Can I use it with the stock filters?
Yes: the lids fit the stock airbox and work with OEM-size filters, both stock and performance. You get the best result with performance filters.
Do I need to modify anything on the bike?
No. The two lids replace the stock ones on the standard airbox, with no cutting or drilling.
Can I put the bike back to stock?
Yes. Just refit the stock covers.
Is it better to change the exhaust or the intake?
They are different upgrades: the intake controls how much air gets into the engine, the exhaust how the gases get out. The kit is designed to deliver results with the stock exhaust and costs a fraction of a full exhaust system.
How long does shipping take?
All kits are in stock and ship within 24 hours, worldwide. You have 15 days from delivery to return the product if you're not happy with it.
