🇮🇹 Made in Italy

Designed and produced entirely in Italy

Every 2G Engineering component is created in our laboratory in Soliera (Modena), the heart of the Italian motor valley. We don't just print: we design each piece custom-made for your model, test the fit, and inspect every single piece before shipping.

We use professional 3D printing with aerospace-grade materials (carbon fiber-filled PPA), chosen for their heat resistance and structural rigidity over time—not generic mass-produced plastics.

In short

  • What it is: the 2G Engineering Hammer Intake enlarged airbox lid with a Sprint Filter P08 air filter (part number CM61S), for Ducati Hypermotard 821, 821 SP, 939, 939 SP and Hyperstrada 821 and 939 (2013–2018).
  • What it fixes: jerking and snatchy throttle at low rpm.
  • Dyno-tested result: up to +3 hp and about +6 Nm with the stock ECU, no remap required.
  • Plug & Play and reversible: it fits the stock airbox with no cutting or drilling.

In traffic, pulling away or riding on a constant throttle below 3,000 rpm, the stock Hypermotard 821 and 939 tend to jerk at low rpm and have a snatchy, on/off throttle response. The dyno also shows a torque dip between about 4,500 and 5,700 rpm, right in the range you use most on the road.

The main cause isn't the air filter but the way air gets into the airbox: the stock lid has a very small air inlet, designed mainly to meet European noise homologation limits.

Why a performance air filter alone isn't enough

Many Ducati owners start by fitting a performance air filter for the Hypermotard 821 and 939. The problem is that the filter sits behind the same stock air inlet: if air can't get into the airbox, a freer-flowing filter changes very little. It's like having a marathon runner's lungs and breathing through a straw.

The solution: 2G Engineering Hammer Intake Kit with Sprint Filter

The kit replaces the restrictive factory lid with a smooth-flow intake duct that doubles the air inlet area. The box also includes the Sprint Filter P08 polyester air filter (part number CM61S): a complete intake system designed to work with the stock ECU. Every lid is designed and made in Soliera (Modena), in the heart of Italy's Motor Valley, from carbon-fiber-reinforced PPA.

What changes on the road

  • Smooth low-rpm response: throttle response becomes progressive and predictable, with no jerks.
  • More torque and power without a remap: up to +3 hp and about +6 Nm measured on the dyno with the stock ECU. No remap needed.
  • Intake sound: deeper and fuller, especially from the mid-range up.
  • Minimal maintenance: the Sprint Filter P08 needs no oil: just clean it with compressed air.

The chart compares a stock Hypermotard 821 with the same bike fitted with the 2G kit, without a remap: with the kit, torque is higher from 2,200 rpm and the dip between 4,500 and 5,700 rpm disappears.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to remap the ECU?

No. The kit is designed to work with the stock Hypermotard 821 and 939 ECU: the quoted gains (+3 hp and about +6 Nm) were measured without a remap.

Will a performance air filter alone fix the flat spots?

Usually not. The bottleneck is the air inlet in the stock airbox lid: a freer-flowing filter behind the same inlet changes very little. The kit enlarges the air inlet and already includes a performance filter.

What's the difference between the Sprint Filter kit and the 2G filter kit?

The lid is the same and so is the dyno result. Only the included filter changes: this kit comes with the Sprint Filter P08, the other with the 2G Engineering polyester filter. Both are dry filters cleaned with compressed air.

Exhaust or intake: which should I upgrade first?

They do different jobs: the intake controls how much air gets into the engine, the exhaust how the gases get out. Our kit is designed to deliver results with the stock exhaust and costs a fraction of a full exhaust system.

Does it fit the SP versions and the Hyperstrada?

Yes: Hypermotard 821, 821 SP, 939, 939 SP and Hyperstrada 821 and 939, all model years from 2013 to 2018.

Can I return the bike to stock?

Yes. No cutting or drilling is needed: just refit the stock lid.

How long does it take to fit?

About 60–90 minutes: the fuel tank has to come off to reach the airbox. All the steps are in the installation manual.

How do I clean the filter?

The Sprint Filter P08 is made of polyester and needs no oil: clean it with compressed air blown against the direction of intake flow.

How long does shipping take?

All kits are in stock and ship within 24 hours, worldwide. You have 15 days from delivery to return the product if you're not satisfied.

Wanted to review this. Bought for a 2017 939 Hypomoto. Lots of good stuff to like on my bike with suspension, brake and other upgrades. I didn't like the below 2 k RPM chug when I rolled on the throttle, so I took a chance on this. It fit perfect, looked really good in the box and works without cutting the airbox. There is a little difference from the stock top which has a wire harness cover attached but I just eliminated that. One Caviat. Changing the filter is no simple task. Lots of stuff to unplug and remove. Once it was in place, and startup I was impressed. It has a noise that sounds throaty, and when I rolled it on, WOW. Feels faster, no lag or chugging and superior results. This cover and filter works awesome. I believe the 3 to 5 HP gains. Seat of the pants goodness. Thanks
