In short
- What it is: the 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit (spoked duct + closing base plate) with a dry polyester performance air filter, for Ducati Monster 1100, 1100 S and 1100 EVO (2009–2013), all versions.
- What it fixes: jerking and snatchy throttle at low rpm.
- Dyno-tested result: about +4 hp and +8 Nm between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm, with the stock ECU and no remap.
- Plug & Play and reversible: it fits the stock airbox with no cutting or drilling.
Low-rpm jerking on the Monster 1100: where it comes from
In traffic, on a constant throttle or out of slow corners, the stock Monster 1100's Desmodue twin tends to jerk at low rpm and have a snatchy, on/off throttle response.
One of the main causes is the intake: on the stock airbox, air passes through a long, narrow and very restricted duct, designed mainly to meet noise homologation limits.
Why a performance air filter alone isn't enough
Many Ducati owners start by fitting a performance air filter for the Monster 1100. The problem is that air still has to pass through the stock duct: if the inlet is narrow, a freer-flowing filter changes very little. It's like having a marathon runner's lungs and breathing through a straw.

The solution: 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit
The kit replaces the long, restrictive stock duct with a shorter, more open enlarged spoked intake duct , finished with a closing base plate. The box also includes the 2G Engineering high-flow dry polyester air filter: a complete intake system designed to work with the stock ECU. Every kit is designed and made in Soliera (Modena), in the heart of Italy's Motor Valley, from carbon-fiber-reinforced PPA.
What changes on the road
- Smooth low-rpm response: throttle response becomes progressive and predictable, with no jerks.
- More torque and power without a remap: about +4 hp and +8 Nm between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm measured on the dyno with the stock ECU. Peak power rises by about 1 hp. No remap needed.
- Intake sound: deeper and fuller, the classic Desmodue sound.
- Minimal maintenance: the filter is dry and needs no oil: just clean it with compressed air.

The chart compares a stock Monster 1100 with the same bike fitted with the 2G kit, without a remap: torque is higher from 2,000 up to about 5,000 rpm, and peak power rises by about 1 hp.
Which version to choose
| Version | What's included | Who it's for |
|---|---|---|
| Kit with 2G performance air filter (this page) | Enlarged intake kit + 2G dry polyester filter | Riders still running the stock paper filter |
| Intake kit without filter | Enlarged intake kit (filter not included) | Riders who already have an OEM-size cylindrical filter |
| 2G performance air filter only | 2G dry polyester filter, washable | Riders who want a lifetime filter for the stock airbox |
Compatibility
Ducati Monster 1100, 1100 S and 1100 EVO (2009–2013), all versions. Fits the stock airbox with no modifications.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to remap the ECU?
No. The kit is designed to work with the stock Monster 1100 ECU: the quoted gains (about +4 hp and +8 Nm between 2,000 and 5,000 rpm) were measured without a remap.
Will a performance air filter alone fix the jerking?
Usually not. The bottleneck is the long, narrow stock intake duct: a freer-flowing filter behind the same duct changes very little. The kit replaces the duct and already includes a performance filter.
Exhaust or intake: which should I upgrade first?
They do different jobs: the intake controls how much air gets into the engine, the exhaust how the gases get out. Our kit is designed to deliver results with the stock exhaust and costs a fraction of a full exhaust system.
Does it fit the Monster 1100 S and 1100 EVO?
Yes: it fits every Monster 1100, including the 1100 S and 1100 EVO, from 2009 to 2013.
Can I return the bike to stock?
Yes. No cutting or drilling is needed: just refit the stock duct.
How long does it take to fit?
About one hour, with no modifications to the bike.
How do I clean the filter?
The filter is dry polyester and needs no oil: clean it with compressed air blown against the direction of intake flow.
How long does shipping take?
All kits are in stock and ship within 24 hours, worldwide. You have 15 days from delivery to return the product if you're not satisfied.
