In short
- What it is: the 2G Engineering Hammer Intake enlarged airbox lid for Ducati Hypermotard 1100 and 1100 S (2007–2009), Hypermotard 1100 EVO and EVO SP (2010–2012) and Hypermotard 796 (2010–2012). Air filter not included: use it with the filter you already have.
- What it fixes: jerking and snatchy throttle at low rpm.
- Dyno-tested result: about +4 hp and +8 Nm between 2,000 and 4,500 rpm (dyno test on a Hypermotard 1100), with the stock ECU and no remap.
- Plug & Play and reversible: it fits the stock airbox with no cutting or drilling.
Low-rpm jerking on the Hypermotard 796 and 1100: where it comes from
In traffic, on a constant throttle or out of hairpins, the stock Hypermotard 796 and 1100's air-cooled twin tends to jerk at low rpm and have a snatchy, on/off throttle response.
The main cause isn't the air filter but the way air gets into the airbox: the stock lid has a very small air inlet, designed mainly to meet European noise homologation limits.
Why a performance air filter alone isn't enough
Many Ducati owners start by fitting a performance air filter for the Hypermotard 796 and 1100. The problem is that the filter sits behind the same stock air inlet: if air can't get into the airbox, a freer-flowing filter changes very little. It's like having a marathon runner's lungs and breathing through a straw.

The solution: 2G Engineering Hammer Intake
The lid replaces the restrictive factory one and enlarges the air inlet. It works with the filter you already have: any filter with the original dimensions will fit, both the stock filter and performance filters. Every lid is designed and made in Soliera (Modena), in the heart of Italy's Motor Valley, from carbon-fiber-reinforced PPA.
What changes on the road
- Smooth low-rpm response: throttle response becomes progressive and predictable, with no jerks.
- More torque and power without a remap: about +4 hp and +8 Nm between 2,000 and 4,500 rpm (dyno test on a Hypermotard 1100) measured on the dyno with the stock ECU. Peak power changes only slightly. No remap needed.
- Intake sound: deeper and fuller, especially from the mid-range up.
- Keep the filter you already have: it works with the stock filter and with any OEM-size performance filter.

The chart compares a stock Hypermotard 1100 with the same bike fitted with the 2G kit, without a remap: torque is higher from 2,000 up to about 4,500 rpm, while peak power changes only slightly.

Frequently asked questions
Is the air filter included?
No. This version contains only the enlarged airbox lid: you use it with the filter you already have. If you also need a filter, choose the kit with the 2G performance air filter or the kit with the Sprint Filter.
Which filters can I use?
Any filter with the original dimensions: the stock filter and OEM-size performance filters.
Do I need to remap the ECU?
No. The lid is designed to work with the stock Hypermotard 796 and 1100 ECU: the quoted gains (about +4 hp and +8 Nm between 2,000 and 4,500 rpm (dyno test on a Hypermotard 1100)) were measured without a remap.
Exhaust or intake: which should I upgrade first?
They do different jobs: the intake controls how much air gets into the engine, the exhaust how the gases get out. Our kit is designed to deliver results with the stock exhaust and costs a fraction of a full exhaust system.
Which versions does it fit?
It fits the Ducati Hypermotard 1100 and 1100 S (2007–2009), Hypermotard 1100 EVO and EVO SP (2010–2012) and Hypermotard 796 (2010–2012).
Can I return the bike to stock?
Yes. No cutting or drilling is needed: just refit the stock lid.
How long does it take to fit?
About one hour, with no modifications to the bike.
How long does shipping take?
All kits are in stock and ship within 24 hours, worldwide. You have 15 days from delivery to return the product if you're not satisfied.
