🇮🇹 Made in Italy

Designed and produced entirely in Italy

Every 2G Engineering component is created in our laboratory in Soliera (Modena), the heart of the Italian motor valley. We don't just print: we design each piece custom-made for your model, test the fit, and inspect every single piece before shipping.

We use professional 3D printing with aerospace-grade materials (carbon fiber-filled PPA), chosen for their heat resistance and structural rigidity over time—not generic mass-produced plastics.

In short

  • What it is: the 2G Engineering Hammer Intake enlarged airbox lid with a dry polyester 2G panel performance air filter, for Ducati Desert X, Desert X Rally and Desert X Discovery with the 937 cc Testastretta 11° engine (2022–2025).
  • What it fixes: jerking and snatchy throttle at low rpm.
  • Dyno-tested result: about +4 hp and +6 Nm between 3,000 and 5,500 rpm, with the stock ECU and no remap.
  • Plug & Play and reversible: it fits the stock airbox with no cutting or drilling.

Off-road in slow, technical sections, and on the road in traffic, the stock Desert X tends to have a snatchy throttle response at low rpm, just when you need it to be smoothest. The dyno also shows a torque dip between about 4,300 and 5,200 rpm.

The main cause isn't the air filter but the way air gets into the airbox: the stock lid has a very small air inlet, designed mainly to meet European noise homologation limits.

Why a performance air filter alone isn't enough

Many Ducati owners start by fitting a performance air filter for the Desert X. The problem is that the filter sits behind the same stock air inlet: if air can't get into the airbox, a freer-flowing filter changes very little. It's like having a marathon runner's lungs and breathing through a straw.

More air, protected filter

On a bike that also goes off-road, more air shouldn't mean more dust in the engine. Our lid enlarges the air inlet with a geometry designed to keep the filter shielded from water and dust, with the reliability of the stock system.

The solution: 2G Engineering Hammer Intake Kit

The lid replaces the restrictive factory one and enlarges the air inlet. The box also includes the 2G Engineering high-flow dry polyester air filter: a complete intake system designed to work with the stock ECU. Every lid is designed and made in Soliera (Modena), in the heart of Italy's Motor Valley, from carbon-fiber-reinforced PPA.

What changes on the road

  • Smooth low-rpm response: throttle response becomes progressive and predictable, with no jerks.
  • More torque and power without a remap: about +4 hp and +6 Nm between 3,000 and 5,500 rpm measured on the dyno with the stock ECU. Peak power changes only slightly. No remap needed.
  • Intake sound: deeper and fuller, especially from the mid-range up.
  • Minimal maintenance: the filter is dry and needs no oil: just clean it with compressed air.

The chart compares a stock Desert X with the same bike fitted with the 2G intake system, without a remap: torque is higher from low rpm and the dip between about 4,300 and 5,200 rpm disappears, while peak power changes only slightly.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to remap the ECU?

No. The kit is designed to work with the stock Desert X ECU: the quoted gains (about +4 hp and +6 Nm between 3,000 and 5,500 rpm) were measured without a remap.

Will a performance air filter alone fix the jerking?

Usually not. The bottleneck is the air inlet in the stock airbox lid: a freer-flowing filter behind the same inlet changes very little. The kit enlarges the air inlet and already includes a performance filter.

Exhaust or intake: which should I upgrade first?

They do different jobs: the intake controls how much air gets into the engine, the exhaust how the gases get out. Our kit is designed to deliver results with the stock exhaust and costs a fraction of a full exhaust system.

Is the filter still protected from water and dust off-road?

Yes. The lid enlarges the air inlet with a geometry designed to keep the filter shielded from water and dust, just like the stock system.

Which versions does it fit?

It fits the Ducati Desert X, Desert X Rally and Desert X Discovery with the 937 cc Testastretta 11° engine (2022–2025).

Can I return the bike to stock?

Yes. No cutting or drilling is needed: just refit the stock lid.

How long does it take to fit?

About one hour, with no modifications to the bike.

How do I clean the filter?

The filter is dry polyester and needs no oil: clean it with compressed air blown against the direction of intake flow.

How long does shipping take?

All kits are in stock and ship within 24 hours, worldwide. You have 15 days from delivery to return the product if you're not satisfied.

Wanted to review this. Bought for a 2017 939 Hypomoto. Lots of good stuff to like on my bike with suspension, brake and other upgrades. I didn't like the below 2 k RPM chug when I rolled on the throttle, so I took a chance on this. It fit perfect, looked really good in the box and works without cutting the airbox. There is a little difference from the stock top which has a wire harness cover attached but I just eliminated that. One Caviat. Changing the filter is no simple task. Lots of stuff to unplug and remove. Once it was in place, and startup I was impressed. It has a noise that sounds throaty, and when I rolled it on, WOW. Feels faster, no lag or chugging and superior results. This cover and filter works awesome. I believe the 3 to 5 HP gains. Seat of the pants goodness. Thanks
