In short
- What it is: the 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit (three-hole flange with Venturi profile + closing cap) for Ducati Monster 1200, 1200 S and 1200 R (2014–2021), all versions. Air filter not included: use the filter you already have.
- What it fixes: the jerkiness and snatchy throttle at low revs and the mid-range torque dip (4,300–5,200 rpm).
- Dyno-tested result: about +6–9 Nm from low revs up to 5,500 rpm and up to +6 HP in the mid-range, with the stock ECU and no remap.
- Plug & Play and reversible: fits the stock airbox with no cutting or drilling.

Jerky low revs and mid-range torque dip on the Monster 1200: where they come from
In traffic, at steady throttle or out of slow corners, the stock Testastretta 11° DS of the Monster 1200 tends to jerk at low revs and to surge when you hold the throttle steady, with an abrupt response (on-off effect): many owners end up riding around town in third or fourth gear just to keep it smooth. On the dyno, the stock curve also shows a torque dip between 4,300 and 5,200 rpm, exactly the rev range you use most on the road.
One of the main causes is the intake: on the stock airbox, air enters through a narrow, very restrictive inlet, designed mainly to meet homologation noise limits.
Why changing just the air filter is not enough
Many Ducati riders start by fitting a sport air filter for the Monster 1200. The problem is that the air still has to pass through the stock inlet: if the inlet is narrow, a more permeable filter makes little difference. It's like having a marathon runner's lungs and breathing through a straw.

The solution: 2G Engineering enlarged intake kit
The kit replaces the stock airbox inlet with an enlarged three-hole intake flange, blended with a Venturi profile that guides the air into the engine without turbulence. The cylindrical filter mounts on the flange, closed at the bottom by a cap and secured with a long bolt. It works with the filter you already have: the stock filter or any filter with the same dimensions as the original. Every kit is designed and made in Soliera (Modena), in the heart of the Motor Valley, from carbon-fiber-reinforced PPA, and comes with all the hardware you need.
What changes on the road
- Strong low end and mid-range: the torque dip between 4,300 and 5,200 rpm disappears and throttle response becomes progressive and predictable, with no on-off.
- More torque and power without a remap: about +6–9 Nm from low revs up to 5,500 rpm and up to +6 HP in the mid-range, measured on the dyno with the stock ECU. Peak power rises only slightly (about 122 HP vs 121). No remap needed.
- Intake sound: deeper and fuller, typical of the Testastretta.
- Keep the filter you already have: works with the stock filter and with all sport filters with the same dimensions as the original.

On the dyno, a stock Monster 1200 was compared with the same bike fitted with the 2G kit, with no remap: torque is higher from low revs up to 5,500 rpm and the dip in the middle of the curve is filled in, while peak power changes only slightly.

Frequently asked questions
Is the air filter included?
No. This version contains only the enlarged intake kit: you use it with the filter you already have. If you also need a filter, choose the kit with the 2G performance air filter.
Which filters can I use?
All filters with the same dimensions as the original: the stock one and OEM-size sport filters.
Do I need to remap the ECU?
No. The kit is designed to work with the stock ECU of the Monster 1200: the stated results (about +6–9 Nm from low revs up to 5,500 rpm and up to +6 HP in the mid-range) were measured with no remap.
Is it better to change the exhaust or the intake?
They do different jobs: the intake works on how much air gets into the engine, the exhaust on how the gases get out. Our kit is designed to deliver results with the stock exhaust and costs a fraction of a full exhaust system.
Does it fit every version of the Monster 1200?
Yes: Monster 1200, 1200 S and 1200 R from 2014 to 2021, both the first series and the 2017 facelift.
Can I put the bike back to stock?
Yes. Installation requires no cutting or drilling: just refit the stock parts.
How long does it take to fit?
About one hour, with no modifications to the bike.
How long does shipping take?
All kits are in stock and ship within 24 hours, worldwide. You have 15 days from delivery to return the product if you're not happy with it.
