In short
- What it is: the 2G TempShift -10 is an air temperature sensor that replaces the stock part number 55240121A and tells the ECU the air is 10 °C colder than it really is.
- What it fixes: the lean fuelling set at the factory to meet emissions regulations, which gets even more noticeable once you fit an intake kit, a performance air filter or an exhaust.
- Result: the ECU richens the mixture on its own, with no remap: fuller, smoother power delivery and an engine that runs cooler.
- Plug & Play and reversible: same size, same connector and same interface as the stock sensor. Fitting takes about 2 hours and you can go back to stock whenever you like.
⚠️ FOR RACE USE ONLY
This product is intended exclusively for competition use on closed circuits. It is not approved for road use: use on public roads is not permitted.
Why your stock Ducati runs lean
To meet emissions regulations, manufacturers calibrate their ECUs so the engine runs very close to stoichiometric and, in many riding conditions, slightly lean. It is the best calibration for passing homologation tests, not for riding.
You can feel it from the saddle: a snatchy throttle when you get back on the gas, flat spots at low and mid revs, and an engine that runs hotter in traffic. Fit an enlarged intake, a performance air filter or an exhaust and the engine breathes more air, so the mixture tends to go even leaner.
How the 2G TempShift -10 works
The ECU uses the air temperature sensor to estimate the density of the air entering the engine: cold air is denser, carries more oxygen and therefore needs more fuel.
The 2G TempShift -10 has a response curve identical to the stock sensor, but shifted by 10 °C across the whole range. The ECU reads air that is 10 °C colder and adds fuel accordingly: the fuelling gets richer naturally, without touching the map.
To give you an idea of scale, at ambient temperature 10 °C less means about 3% denser air in the ECU's calculation, and therefore a similar amount of enrichment. Where the lambda sensor corrects the mixture (idle and steady cruising at light load) the ECU tends to bring it back to the original value; the enrichment works where you need it, when you open the throttle and at medium and high loads.
The sensor was designed, selected and built by us in our workshop in Modena: its curve was checked with multimeter measurements against the stock sensor. Made in Italy.
What changes on the road
- Fuller, smoother power delivery, especially at low and mid revs.
- Softer on-off throttle response when you get back on the gas out of a corner.
- Fewer flat spots after fitting an intake, air filter or exhaust.
- An engine that runs cooler: a slightly richer mixture lowers combustion temperatures, which is good for engine longevity.
When we recommend it
The 2G TempShift -10 is the upgrade we recommend to riders who have changed the intake, air filter or exhaust and want better power delivery without remapping the ECU. It also works on a completely stock bike, for riders who want a smoother, less lean engine.
On your Panigale V2 890 it works best together with our enlarged intake kit.
Compatibility
Compatible with Ducati Panigale V2 and V2 S 890 (2025+).
Replaces the stock air temperature sensor part number 55240121A (Magneti Marelli). Same size, same connector and same seal: no wires to cut or adapt.
Before ordering, check that the air temperature sensor on your bike carries part number 55240121A. If your bike has two sensors, replace the one connected to the engine ECU. If in doubt, get in touch.
Installation
Unplug and remove the stock sensor, fit the 2G TempShift -10 with its seal and plug the connector back in. No changes to the wiring and no software.
On the Panigale V2 890 the air temperature sensor sits under the fuel tank.
To go back to stock, simply refit the original sensor: we recommend keeping it.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to remap the ECU?
No. The sensor works with the stock ECU: the ECU itself richens the mixture, because it reads air that is 10 °C colder.
How much richer does the fuelling get?
In proportion to the air density correction: about 3% at ambient temperature. Where the lambda sensor corrects the mixture the effect is smaller; you feel it when you open the throttle and at medium and high loads, where it matters.
Will the dashboard temperature change?
Yes. If the dashboard reads the outside temperature from the same sensor, it will show about 10 °C less than the real temperature. This is normal and does not indicate a fault.
Can the ice warning come on?
Yes, it can happen. Because the sensor shifts the reading down by 10 °C, the ice warning on the dashboard can come on even at higher real temperatures than usual. This is normal and does not indicate a fault: keep it in mind when riding in cold weather.
How do I know it is the right sensor for my bike?
Check that the air temperature sensor fitted to your bike carries part number 55240121A. If in doubt, send us your bike model and year: we will get back to you.
Does it work on a stock bike too?
Yes. It gives its best after changing the intake, filter or exhaust, but on a stock bike too it makes the power delivery smoother and less lean.
Can I put the bike back to stock?
Yes. Just refit the stock sensor: no wires are cut or modified.
